Delayline: A Wide-Area Network Emulation Tool
نویسندگان
چکیده
Programming distributed applications is already potentially difficult, although tools exist to aid in their creation. Applications developed to communicate over local area networks can expect to enjoy highly reliable communications with minimal latency. However, such applications may no longer continue to perform as expected if moved to a wide-area network environment, due to the reduced performance inherent in wide-area networking. During application development it is often impractical or inconvenient to evaluate application performance under real wide-area network conditions. In this paper we describe the design and implementation of the Delayline tool which provides a fully configurable mechanism for emulating wide-area network communications on a local area network. Delayline allows real distributed applications to be evaluated under emulated wide-area network communication characteristics. @ 1994 The USENIX Association, computing systems, vol. 7 . Towards a Simple Model for SAW Delayline Using CAD
Due to further applications of Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices in many applicable electronics and communications fields, modeling and simulation for these devices become more urgent in recent years. SAW devices can found in frequency range from 10 MHz to several GHz. It can found in RF, IF, stages of mobile. SAW devices convert mechanical waves to electrical and vice versa through IDT. This...
متن کاملA dynamic network scenario emulation tool
Comparative performance measurements of distributed applications and network protocols require the availability of appropriate network environments. Network emulation approaches offer a flexible way to mimic the properties of a variety of networks. Existing emulation tools work either with centralized real-time simulation components, limiting the scenario size and maximum traffic, or focus on t...

Experim.eiitation an wide area computer networks such as the Internet is dificult. One dificulty is the lack of experimental hosts for individual researches or research groups. متن کاملReproducing Network Experiments in a Time-controlled Emulation Environment
Network emulation environments are a valuable research tool that offer the possibility of conducting complex network experiments and can be seen as an enabler of experimental reproducibility. Keen to quantify this approach, we reproduce experiments presented in QJump [1] in the timecontrolled network emulation framework, called SELENA [2]. We first describe in detail how we built the experiment...
متن کاملMobLab: A Mobility Emulation Platform
Mobility powered systems provide the core routing mechanism in many ad-hoc and delay tolerant networks. Evaluating such systems under real life scenarios is often not practical because they involve multiple moving participants over a wide area. As a result, the principal way these systems are evaluated is though discrete event simulators that are often specific to the system at hand. While thes...
